December update

Dear friends once more I am back to update you on the progress of my activities in the context of my advocacy project.

Like I told in the last time in this blog I had organized a training session for 20 young people in the district of Moamba as first step of my advocacy project.

Since then we spend time doing advocacy activities to influence the next strategic plan on AIDS.

During the training sessions we made some recommendation for this plan, we a approved this recommendation and designing the strategy to influence the government departments.

Some of the participants in the trainings sessions belong to the local radio and we decided to uses hims spaces at radio to diffuse information and influence the government strategic plan on AIDS.

So during their sessions in Portuguese and also in local language, they explain first what they learns in the trainings sessions, about political advocacy focusing young people and AIDS, and then talk about the strategic plan those government is planning for the next five years.

Than a session organized to talk about the recommendations we made for this plan. The good thing about this radio is because we have tree young activists there we had space in three different programs, one of them focusing children.

The other activity we did was sending the report of the trainings sessions as well the recommendation for the next AIDS strategic plan for several government departments at local and provincial levels, as well the National AIDS Council.

A part of this activities we did special activity in the first of December, world AIDS day. At this days we remember the decisions makers how important is to involves the young people in the strategic decisions on AIDS, as some of the most affected and infected group, as well we passed the message about the people from rural area.
In the next time we are planning to continue to diffuse information trough the radio and well appointing meeting with strategic people from the government departments.
